DAYTRIPS

There are four daytrips possible.

1. Paramaribo and Surroundings

(6:30-19:00)
We will visit Peperpot - an abandoned coffee plantation, Weg naar Zee (Road to the ocean) and Chocopot for the Crimson-hooded Manakin. See Paramaribo for info about the birds in these places.

2. Warapa Creek

(5:00-18:00)
This is a boat trip. See Paramaribo for info about the birds.

3. Savannah

(5:30 – 18:00)
We visit Powakka savannah, Phedra, the area around the international airport for Burrowing Owl and the area near Cola Creek for Point-tailed Palmcreeper. See Overbridge for info about the birds in these places.

4. The Swamps of SW Paramaribo and the Cultuurtuin

(6:30 – 19:00)
We will visit a bridge over the ‘Saramacca doorsteek’ canal with a view on floating vegetation. Azure Gallinule and Least Bittern are possible with some luck. Then we go to the corner of two canals for Arrowhead Piculet and Ash-troated Crake. Limpkin, Masked Yellowthroat and American Moorhen have been spotted on this place. We will also look for the common Purple Gallinule. After lunch we will visit the botanical garden in de ‘Cultuurtuin’. See Paramaribo for info about the birds. The cost of this daytrip is the same as Paramaribo.

If you hire a car yourself it is much cheaper. You have to take care for food yourself also for me and pay my guide fee, which is 125 euro for 1 and 2 persons and 150 euro for 3 or more persons. I can help you rent a car. You need an international drivers license.
